The Stewardship Minute – Psalm 62:10

David warns us in Psalm 62:10, “If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.” There is untold danger in allowing your heart’s affections to become attached to the things you possess. First, you will become a small person if your love life centers around things instead of people and your relationship with God. Second, you will find yourself fearful that something will happen that would cause you to lose your “lovers.” Third, you will find yourself willingly and repeatedly compromising more important life-priorities in order to accumulate even more “lovers.” Be careful, riches can seem to be nothing more than a cute and playful little monkey you carry on your back. But over time it can grow into a massive gorilla that can crush the very life out of you. Think about it.
